Introduction
Grocery stores that use Vori’s POS can ring up fresh produce and bulk items using standardized Price Look-Up (PLU) codes. These 4- or 5-digit codes are widely used in the grocery industry and help ensure consistent product identification at checkout. This article includes a downloadable PLU cheat sheet that your cashiers can reference during transactions. You can print the sheet and keep it at the register or post it in a backroom area. What are PLU codes?
PLUs (Price Look-Up codes) are used to identify produce and bulk items without barcodes. They are usually:-
4-digit codes for conventionally grown items (e.g., bananas =
4011) -
5-digit codes beginning with 9 for organically grown items (e.g., organic bananas =
94011)
