Introduction
The Vusion Link app requires Type 2 UPCs to follow a very specific 12‑digit format. If an ESL shows “Not on file,” the product’s UPC in Back Office likely doesn’t meet that format. This article shows you how to spot mis‑formatted Type 2 UPCs and correct them—either on the store handheld or in Back Office. Not-on-file ESL example If linking a code to an ESL shows a blank screen with a? icon, the code isn’t in the store’s product file—or it’s a Type-2 UPC in a format the Vusion Link app doesn’t recognize.
Recognizing a Type-2 UPC formatting error
The Vusion Link app only recognizes Type-2 UPC’s in the following format: ✏️ Note - Each of the 4 distinct sections of a Type-2 UPC have strict length requirements. _For example, Type-2 PLU codes are always 5 digits._ If the on-file product code does not match this formatting, the ESL will not recognize the product code.Commonly rejected Type-2 UPC Formats
