Open code/manual items are variable price products that users can create to quickly ring up items without barcodes while still being able to track department sales data.

  1. Log into dash.vori.com

  2. Open the Products page on the left menu

  3. Select the New Product button

  4. Populate the following required fields

    1. Barcode - this can be any barcode not currently in your product file, from 1 to 13 digits.

    2. Name - assign an easily searchable and uniform name

      1. Example: Produce by Weight Open Code

    3. Department - select the department to which you wish to track the sales of this open code item

    4. Retail Price - set the price to $0.01. This value will be adjust each time the barcode is added to a basket because the price is variable.

    5. Variable Price - this will allow the cashier to manual input the price of the item every time it's added to a basket

  5. Populate any other fields needed for the open code, including:

    1. Manual item - make the item a selectable hotkey within the POS Manual Item page for quicker lookup

    2. Tax rate - Attach sales tax to the open code

    3. Sold by weight - Require weight input when adding the item to a basket

    4. Age restriction - Ensure your cashiers are checking the shopper's age when selling any age restricted items

    5. EBT enabled or WIC enabled - Allow customers using EBT or WIC cards to purchase the open code item

  6. Select Save on the bottom right of the item page to add the item to your product file!
