Type 2 UPCs (also known as variable weight barcodes) have the item PLU and price embedded into the barcode. These are commonly found on meat, bulk or cheese products that are weighed and packed using a separate deli scale.
In Vori, you must add the Type 2 UPC to your product catalog for it to be scannable at the POS.
To create a type 2 UPC, follow along below.
Create a Type 2 UPC from the Products Page:
Tap
New Product
Barcode Field:
Should always start with a 2
Enter five digits for PLU
EX: If PLU is 850, enter 00850
Enter five 0's
EX: 20085000000
Enter the suggested UPC missing check digit(#)
Enter the necessary product details (Name, Department, etc)
Product Pricing: retail price is not relevant, as the scanner will automatically read the price embedded in the barcode.
โNote: Do not mark item to be sold by weight, otherwise the POS will prompt you to re-weigh the itemTap
