In Beta: Inventory
Learn how to use Vori’s new inventory and shrink tracking tools to manage your products more efficiently.
What is the Inventory Module?
The new Inventory Module in the Vori OS app and Back Office gives you greater control over your product counts. You can now perform a variety of actions to ensure your on-hand quantities are accurate and up-to-date. This is a beta feature we are actively developing.
✏️ Note: The New Back Office (app.vori.com) experience is currently in beta testing and launching in select stores. This article describes features in the New Back Office. For instructions on accessing it, view our guide: Access the New Back Office.
Managing Inventory in the Vori OS App
The Vori OS app allows you to quickly adjust your inventory from the store floor. To get started, navigate to the Inventory tab on the app’s main screen.
You'll see four main options for managing your inventory:
-
Restock: Add a specific quantity of an item to your current inventory count.
-
Shrink: Remove items from inventory due to spoilage, damage, theft, or other reasons. You can select from a pre-set list of reasons.
-
Count: Set a new, total count for an item, overwriting the previous inventory number. This is useful for performing cycle counts.
-
Manual: A flexible option that lets you either set a new count or add/subtract from the current quantity.
Vori OS App Product Details
The app also gives you a real-time look at an item's on-hand count on its product details page in the Inventory tab.
Viewing Inventory in the Back Office
In the Vori Back Office, you can view your inventory data in two key places: on the product details page and in the reports section.
Back Office Product Details
On an individual product's page, you can find a dedicated Inventory section with the following information:
-
On Hand: The current quantity of the product on the shelf.
-
Pending: The quantity of the product that has been ordered but not yet received.
-
Par Level: Your predetermined ideal minimum quantity.
-
Max Stock: Your ideal maximum quantity.
Inventory Reports
To view a broader overview of your inventory, navigate to Reports in the main menu and select the Inventory tab. Here, you can access detailed reports, including Inventory Levels and Shrink Reports.
Current Limitations & Future Development
As a beta feature, the Inventory Module has a few limitations we're actively working to address:
-
"Eaches" vs. "Weights": Currently, the system only tracks products by individual units (eaches). We know this is a critical limitation for perishable departments that require weight-based tracking (e.g., produce, meat, cheese).
-
Scale-Printed Barcodes: The system does not yet support barcodes that are printed from a scale and contain weight information.
