How to create and edit Campaign coupons

This article explains how to add and edit coupons that are attached to Campaign SMS messages.

Introduction

Campaign coupons are discount codes that can be redeemed by Loyalty shoppers when they receive a Campaign SMS message. These codes allow shoppers to apply a specified discount to their purchases at the POS, provided that the transaction meets the conditions outlined in the coupon.

Creating and editing different coupon types

Three distinct types of coupons can be included in custom Campaign messages. Additionally, these same coupon types can also be incorporated into the Welcome Message and Anniversary Automated Campaign messages:

  1. Free item - Reduce the price of one or more items in a shopper's basket to zero, provided those items are part of a predefined selection of products associated with the coupon.
  2. Transaction discount - Lower the overall transaction amount by a specified dollar value. Additionally, this coupon can be configured to activate only if the transaction meets or exceeds a predetermined dollar threshold.
  3. Transaction percent off - Lower the overall transaction amount by a specified percentage. Additionally, this coupon can be configured to activate only if the transaction meets or exceeds a predetermined dollar threshold.

To begin adding or editing a coupon, follow the steps below:

  1. On the Campaigns page of Back Office, select:
    1. Create Message to begin creating a new customer SMS message and coupon.
    2. Edit to the far right of the Welcome Message under Automated Campaigns to add an optional coupon
    3. Edit to the far right of the Anniversary under Automated Campaigns to add an optional coupon
    4. Edit to the far right of a message under Custom Messages to add or edit a coupon on an existing custom message.
  2. The Campaign Edit page will open, and coupon details can be added and edited within the Optional coupon section.

Directions on how to create and edit these different coupon types can be found below:

Free item

  1. In the Optional Coupon section of the Campaign edit window, select Free item. A selection of editing options will open beneath the selection.
  2. In the # of items that can be redeemed section, enter how many items from the selection products can be made free when the coupon is applied.
  3. Click Product Selection to begin adding eligible products to the coupon.
  4. In the Product Selection popup window, search for specific products by entering either the product description or the barcode. Once the desired product is found, check the box to the left of its name. Repeat this process until all products are selected, then click the Add Products button located at the bottom right of the screen to include the item in the coupon.

  5. Within the Coupon valid for section, enter how long the coupon will remain valid after the shopper receives the SMS message.
  6. When finished adding or editing coupon details, click Save at the bottom of the Campaign edit window.

Transaction discount

  1. In the Optional Coupon section of the Campaign edit window, select Transaction discount. A selection of editing options will open beneath the selection.
  2. Within the Discount section, enter the dollar amount that will be discounted from a transaction when the coupon is applied.
  3. Optional - Within the Minimum spend on discount section, enter the transaction amount threshold that must be passed before the discount can be applied.
  4. Within the Coupon valid for section, enter how long the coupon will remain valid after the shopper receives the SMS message.
  5. When finished adding or editing coupon details, click Save at the bottom of the Campaign edit window.

Transaction percent off

  1. In the Optional Coupon section of the Campaign edit window, select Transaction discount. A selection of editing options will open beneath the selection.
  2. Within the Percentage section, enter the percentage amount that will be discounted from a transaction when the coupon is applied.
  3. Optional - Within the Minimum spend on discount section, enter the transaction amount threshold that must be passed before the discount can be applied.
  4. Within the Coupon valid for section, enter how long the coupon will remain valid after the shopper receives the SMS message.
  5. When finished adding or editing coupon details, click Save at the bottom of the Campaign edit window.



Editing Automated Campaign Coupons

All Automated Campaigns, with the exception of the Welcome Message, automatically include mandatory coupons. When these Campaigns are activated, a coupon will be linked to each Campaign message.

It is recommended that stores review and, if necessary, modify these coupons prior to activating an Automated Campaign. However, it is also possible to edit the coupons after activation.

Instructions for editing coupons associated with Automated Campaigns can be found below:

Explore the store

  1. Click Edit to the far right of the Explore the Store Campaign to open the Campaign's edit page.
  2. The Coupon Rate determines the discount percentage a shopper will receive when they redeem the coupon. A low coupon rate offers a smaller discount, helping to protect store margins, while a high coupon rate provides a larger discount to further incentivize the shopper.

  3. The Frequency setting controls how often automated campaign messages—and their corresponding coupons—are sent to loyalty shoppers.
  4. Coupon valid for determines how long the coupon is redeemable by the Loyalty shopper once they receive the Campaign message.
  5. When finished adding or editing coupon details, click Save at the bottom of the Campaign edit window.


Come back

  1. Click Edit to the far right of the Come back Campaign to open the Campaign's edit page.
  2. The Number of days determines how many days of shopping inactivity must pass before the Campaign message is automatically sent to a shopper.
  3. Coupon valid for determines how long the coupon is redeemable by the Loyalty shopper once they receive the Campaign message.
  4. Set whether this coupon is Transaction discount or Transaction percent off.
