# How to soft reset the scanner scale

> This article explains how to perform a soft reset to resolve the "Scale Not Ready" error on the scanner scale.

### Introduction

A soft reset is a quick way to reboot the scanner scale without fully powering it down. This step is often used to resolve common scale communication issues, such as the `Scale Not Ready` error. Resetting the scale restores the connection between the POS and scanner hardware, helping to ensure accurate weight readings during checkout.
