If the magnetic charging base is plugged in and not charging the handheld, the scanner case is likely not make full contact with the charging base.
This article helps source and resolve different issues that may prevent the Socket Mobile barcode scanner from working properly.
✏️ Note - As of 04/01/25, Vori POS store's are using one of two kinds of barcode scanner with the store handheld.
Determine the model of barcode scanner
To determine which one is in use, review the references below:

Is the Socket Mobile scanner turned on?

Press the large scan button located on the back side of the iPhone.

If it does not emit a barcode-reading laser, the device may not be turned on.

Press and hold the small power button to the left of the large scan button to power on the Socket Mobile scanner.

If done correctly, the scanner should play two notes from low to high. If the two notes are high to low, the unit was already on and has been powered off.

If the barcode scanner does not turn on, proceed to the next section.
Is the Socket Mobile scanner charged?
If the scanner does not emit two notes when the small power button is pressed, the unit has no power. Proceed through the directions below:
Place the barcode scanner on the charging dock
- Place the handheld on the magnetic charging base. The scanner should emit two quick beeps when in charging mode.
- If the handheld doesn't enter charging mode, confirm that the charging base is plugged in.
Confirm the barcode scanner is making full contact with the charging base
- Find a way to tilt forward the handheld while it's on the charging base to ensure full contact is made.
- Request RMA (return merchandise authorization process) since the charging base is likely faulty.

Is bluetooth turned on for the handheld?
Bluetooth must be enabled on the handheld for the scanner to connect. Follow the directions below to ensure Bluetooth is enabled:
- Swipe down from the handheld's upper right corner to open the Control Center
- Check if Bluetooth is enabled based on the color of the Bluetooth icon
- Blue Icon: Bluetooth is enabled
- White Icon: Bluetooth is disabled
- If the Bluetooth button is white, tap the button to re-enable Bluetooth.
✏️ Note - If bluetooth is enabled but the barcode scanner isn't working, proceed to the next section.
Is the barcode scanner paired with the store handheld?
- Open and log into the VoriOS app
- Under the Devices section of the main screen, look for the
Socket Mobile
device tile and select it. - If the Socket Mobile device is already paired with the VoriOS app, scroll to the bottom of the device's page and select the
Forget Device
button. - On the main screen of the Vori Os app, tap the
Add Socket Mobile
device tile.- The app will display built-in pairing instructions that should be followed by the user.
✏️ Note - If the scanner pairs correctly with the device, emits a barcode scanning laser, but does not transmit information to the VoriOS app, proceed to the next section.
Request device replacement
If all other measures fail, contact Vori support to request RMA, as the device is likely defective.
💡 Tip - If unable to charge the handheld, the VoriOs app has a built-in camera scanner that may be used until a replacement unit arrives. To use the camera scanner in the VoriOS app:
